For the last few days my walking schedule has been a bit different. Starting early and walking then taking a few hours break and continuing later in the afternoon. I have quite enjoyed this. Although it can make some logistics a bit difficult. Yesterday I finally managed to get all my clothes washed. It’s the little things.
Today was quite wonderful. I ended up at a small albergue that is quite possibly the best place I have ever stayed on the Camino. There are only twelve beds here. Each bed is like its own cubicle. It is lovely to have a cheap place without the creaking of metal bunk beds. Also there are only two other women staying here which is a bonus.
I had the pilgrims menu for dinner and when I was finished I was quite full. The chef offered me dessert but I declined. I still had a bit of wine left so he offered a bit of cheese that was not on the menu to pair with the wine. I accepted. What he brought out was a cheese that has won some special award and is very famous. It was so amazing. Then he came of the kitchen with some pancenta that was absolutely amazing!! I was so full but couldn’t stop eating it was so delicious.
He was very curious about my experience at his place as it is new and he wants to give the best possible experience. After a bit of conversation I told him that one day I would like to experience be a hospitelero. A bit later in the conversation he offered that if I wish to have the experience I can return when I finish my Camino and can stay for free and see how I like working at the albergue. I am definitely going to give it some serious consideration during the rest of my journey.
So very thankful for everything!! Especially the hospitality here at Albergue La Finca. They have made me one happy perigrina!
Yikes! What are you doing for that sunburn? Sounds like you had a wonderful connection….
Not much.. The worst of the burn is over. Yes, it was so awesome! Love you!
