On the Camino most restaurants have a “pilgrim’s menu”. This is really nice with one exception, limited vegetables. If all you like to eat is meat and bread you will do well. So whenever I find an albergue with a kitchen I try to get my veggies. Last night the albergue had a kitchen…but not one pot or utensil. Another pilgrim and myself got creative and found a serving tray and some plastic forks at a variety store. Then went shopping. We ended up having a most delicious salads and goat cheese on bread. It was about half the cost o a restaurant and a million times better. It was also fun to see the other pilgrims amazement at our mini feast prepared with just a pocket knife.
Sometimes the simplest things are the best.
