Walking through the countryside of La Rioja feels very much like California. It isn’t until you see the stone steeple in the distance as you approach the town you suddenly realize you’re in Spain! Today was another day with most of the morning having a nice cloud cover. I walked mostly by myself today. At one point in the Camino there was a construction sign with a pink arrow pointing to the right. Just ahead on the left hand path I saw the yellow arrow. I decided to follow the yellow one because that is the usual way. I had only take a few steps in this direction when a huge trash/dump truck came toward me. This was quite surprising as the road was through the vineyards and just a gravel road. He flashed his lights and slowed down. Then he kindly let me know the road was out ahead. I was very thankful he came along when he did or I would have probably had a difficult time and lots of extra walking.
For a few minutes I walked with a man from Spain named David. His wife and son are meeting him in each town When he stops. Apparently the little 5 year old boy, named Nicholas had a brain tumor that was just removed. So please pray he has a full recovery.
Tonight I have taken the pilgrim menu at the albergue which was a hearty lentil stew. I was the only English speaker at the tables surrounded by Italians. They were kind and shares some wine they brought from Italy. Then after dinner a friendly face entered the alberge. A girl I met like a week ago. Tonight we have a room together with no boys! Score!
I see God is watching over you, sending the man to stop you before you went the wrong way! Truly,As we commit our ways unto the Lord He will direct our steps. As we acknowledge Him in all our ways He establishes our thoughts. Yeah! The children of God are led by the Spirit of God. He is leading you all ‘The Way”…You are loved.
Prayed for Nicholas to have a full recovery.
